Frequently Asked Questions
Is this conversion 100% accurate?
It is mathematically accurate based on total surface area. However, garment patterns have specific shapes. We automatically add a 10% "Layout Buffer" to account for puzzle-piecing your patterns onto the new width.
Can I convert from Wide to Narrow?
Technically yes, but be careful. If a pattern piece (like a full circle skirt) is physically wider than your new narrow fabric, you will need to add seams or cut panels, regardless of the total area.
What are standard fabric widths?
Standard widths are usually 110cm-115cm (44"-45") for quilting cottons and 140cm-150cm (54"-60") for apparel fabrics, wools, and knits.
